Creekside Science Week 2017 is January 24-27th
Mark your calendar and encourage your Eagle(s) to get excited about exploring all things science at Creekside

Science Week Events:

Student Science Projects displayed in the Media Center all week (see links for registration forms)
Daytime science presentations to students during specials
American Heart Association Heart Health assembly
Science Night event on Thursday, 1/26 from 6-8p at Creekside

Please start thinking about student science projects…winter break may be a great time to get started! Student projects are due on Tuesday, January 24th and will be displayed in the Media Center throughout the week. Please fill out a registration form and return it to school to let us know if your student plans to submit a project. Every project will be entered in a gift card prize drawing at the end of Science Week.

And please plan to join us at Creekside Science Night on Thursday, January 26th from 6-8pm for a family-friendly, hands-on, multi-disciplinary celebration of science! We have lots of fantastic presenters lined up to show you what kinds of great science is happening right here in our community. Come explore robots, biology, fossils, exercise, chemistry, mechanics, physics, forestry, astronomy and more!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Science Week/Night Committee would love to add more presenters to science week and/or night. Do you or someone you know work in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field? Please contact Stephanie Wilson at stephbroka@me.com if you can help in this capacity or would like to help with Science week in general.

*5th Grade Trailers could use a little holiday spirit – please drop off any holiday decoration donations to Ms. Coley in the carpool line.

*Salvation Army Food Drive is going on until December 20^thFriends 4 Change, a 4^th grade group of future leaders are accepting non-perishable food items. Donations can be placed in the barrels located in the front and bus lobbies.

*Creekside is partnering with World Wear Project, whose mission is to provide wearable and affordable shoes to third world countries while benefiting United States’ landfills by reducing refuse by millions of pounds.
To benefit this project, we are collecting clean and wearable shoes (no stains, holes, or overly worn). World Wear Project will accept the following types of shoewear for women, men and children:

Athletic shoes (NO cleats)
Leather shoes
Dress shoes
Casual shoes
Canvas shoes will NOT be accepted

Be on the lookout for the cardboard bins inside Creekside so you can donate those old shoes you have hanging around that you have been waiting for an opportunity to give away!

Fall Spirit Wear items are still available in limited quantities through the Online Store.

Order by next Friday, December 16th for delivery before winter break. Please note in the comments if your order is a surprise for your child so we can arrange for pick-up in the school office.

Are you still interested in ordering artwork? It’s not too late! Visit https://www.square1art.com with your child’s art access code, and place an order any time. Because our school deadline has passed, a delivery fee to your home address will be added to your order, but Creekside will continue to earn a portion of all sales.
This year, Creekside families purchased $6500 worth of student artwork! Way to go!
