There are 16 Days of School Remaining until Summer Break!

A couple of end of year items…

1. Please return any library books you may still have lying around to the Media Center.

2. Box Tops will be collected through Friday, June 8th. Please remember to clip and save them over the summer as well!

3. We still need End of Grade (EOG) Proctors… please visit the sign up HERE or see the flyer below and consider volunteering.

4. Our final Spirit Night of the year is on Wednesday, May 23 at Freddy’s (see flyer below for more info)

5. PLEASE start thinking about how you would like to be involved at Creekside next year. We would LOVE more parent involvement in our PTA and welcome your suggestions! We will be meeting over the summer to begin planning for the 2018-2019 school year… now is the time to get your suggestions in for consideration and budgeting!

The PTA and Creekside Administration have joined forces to plan a ‘Week of Thanks’ for our hardworking Teachers and Staff.

You can help by sending in gift cards from anywhere, in any amount for our daily drawing ($5, $10, $15 – Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Target, Michael’s) Our goal is to have enough for each staff member to win one.
They can be sent in at anytime in an envelope labeled
“PTA Teacher Appreciation”

On Monday, May 7th the Staff Appreciation Committee will be decorating and stocking the Staff Lounge with goodies!! Please send in individually wrapped snacks… fresh fruit, trail mix, sweet treats, granola bars, etc.
There will be a cart in the office for these items the morning of Monday, 5/7.

Monday – The Administrators will be providing cold drinks for Staff in the Bus Lot. The PTA will provide Individual bags of The Mad Popper Popcorn for this refreshing after school snack!

Tuesday – Students are invited to bring in or draw a picture of a flower for your teacher to thank them for “helping you bloom”.
The PTA has also secured a special gift for each Teacher!!!

Wednesday – We will be doing a “Clap-in”… join us at 7am at the Teachers Entrance to school (Located next to the Kindergarten Playground at the top of the stairs that lead to the building from the Staff Parking Lot). Make a sign and get ready to cheer as teachers arrive at school.

Students are also invited to write a card, note or letter of appreciation for their teacher. (Don’t forget Cafeteria Staff, Custodians, Specials Teachers, Administrators and Staff.)

Thursday – The Administrators will be walking from class to class with a Coffee Cart and pastries for a delicious pick-me-up!!

Friday – A Luncheon is planned with subs from our favorite sub shop, Jersey Mike’s!!! The PTA will provide chips, homemade salads (fruit, pasta and mixed green) and a Strawberry Shortcake Bar for Dessert!!!

You are welcome to participate in any way that is appropriate for your family.

Volunteering to run a game booth is a great way for parents to help out in a FUN and EASY way. This is also the perfect way to receive 3.5+ hours of Community Service or Volunteer Credit.
Please look through the list of games and see how you might be able to help.

We need a lot of volunteers in the 8pm-9pm slots. Don’t be discouraged by the “includes cleanup” note on the sign-up… Clean up is quick and easy!!! 🙂

PARKING – The field across the street from the school will be open to parking. Weather permitting, we will have food trucks on the track so the bus parking lot will also be available for parking.
We will be marking a few spaces off for our Face Painter and Roving Magician… please be respectful of posted signs indicating the spaces are reserved.

CASH – We are all set up to take Credit Cards for Punch Card, Wristband and Spirit Wear purchases but cash will be needed for the Pie Toss Booth and the Silly String Arena.

Face Painting and Balloon/Magician is FREE this year!!!

We reached our goal of raising $10,000!!!

We are in the process of printing receipts, sorting items and putting packages together. We are also in the process of wrapping up the school raffle. Please be patient with us as we go through the process. We will be in touch soon with more information on obtaining your auction items.

Our spelling bee champion Kahaan Khatri competed on Saturday, March 17th against 59 other students from Orange County, Durham County, and Chapel Hill – Carrboro schools in the Duke Regional Spelling Bee. He hung in there through multiple rounds, finishing sixth overall out of the 60 kids participating. He competed against kids as old as 13 and in 8th grade and was one of the last two elementary students eliminated.

He did so very, very well! We are so proud!

The Students v. Staff basketball game Thursday, March 15th at 6:00pm
This is a tradition for our 5th graders and a great fundraiser for our end of year picnic. Students should fill out an interest form in their homeroom if they would like to play; and we encourage everyone to come to the game! Tickets are $2.00 at the door for each person, and food will be available for purchase at the game. Outside food is not permitted. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions, and let us know if you would like to volunteer.

9am-1pm
We need teachers, parents, and students to complete the many projects that we have planned.
Any amount of time would be much appreciated.
This is a great opportunity to improve the curb appeal of Creekside and to spend some time with your Creekside friends.

Congratulations Creekside Odyssey of the Mind Teams!!! 

Congratulations to our three Division 1 (Grades 3-5) Odyssey of the Mind teams. On Saturday, 21 Creekside students competed in the regional tournament showing off 6 months of hard work and creativity! Special thanks to coaches Mrs. Yorkery, Mrs. Penders, and Mrs. Bright for keeping our kids on track to developing their solutions.

Two weeks ago, 14 students from our two primary teams (Grades K-2) performed and received outstanding remarks from the judges. Thank you to primary coaches Mrs. Masinick, Mr. Andolina, Mrs. Gambia and Mr. & Mrs. UySmith.

It’s been another great year!

“Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition for students of all ages. Teams of students select a problem, create a solution, then present their solution in a competition against other teams in the same problem and division.”
