We’re celebrating 10 years of this great annual tradition and we’ve got lots of wonderful things planned! There will be delicious foods from around the world, live entertainment, interactive stations, and passports to get stamped as you travel through the continents.
We’re incorporating technology which will “take you there” on International Night from the moment you are greeted in multiple languages until you see images in each regional space! At the Skype exhibit, say “Hi!” or ask questions of people in China, Australia, and Cameroon! And don’t forget to stop by the interactive Google Earth screen to zoom from outer space to street level, dive under the ocean, and fly around cities…all with the swipe of your finger!
SHARE YOUR FAMILY’S CULTURE
Are you an international family or have you traveled overseas? Share items from your culture by hosting a country table in the Media Center. See PDF for complete details!
Help us make International Night a success. Sign up on line at https://tinyurl.com/zprqt6k or see flyers which were sent home yesterday
See you there!
**Friday May 19**
Rogers-Herr Middle School
Since Creekside has so many talented students, this will only be open to grades 3rd through 5th and there will be try outs.
Try outs will be April 25th and April 26th after school so get your creativity flowing and talents ready!
We will be looking for a variety of talent and group acts are welcomed.
The talent show committee will meet after the next PTA meeting.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
The PTA will be hosting a March Madness Party for our teachers and staff Wednesday, March 15th (early release day).
Please help out if you can!
Our Auction and Raffle will be held in April prior to the Spring Carnival (Friday, April 28th). Funds raised help offset the cost of the Carnival, a fun family and community event.
We need volunteers to visit stores, meet people, email and mail letters to vendors, pick up raffle and auction items.
Also, if you or someone you know has a business or service and would like to donate to our PTA’s Spring Carnival Raffle and Auction, please contact us at email@example.com. The business will be advertised to the families of over 850 students at Creekside. This is a great way to market your business AND support our school!
To benefit this project, we are collecting clean and wearable shoes (no stains, holes, or overly worn). World Wear Project will accept the following types of shoe wear for women, men and children:
- Athletic shoes (NO cleats)
- Leather shoes
- Dress shoes
- Casual shoes
- Canvas shoes will NOT be accepted
Crayola Color Cycle Program at Creekside Continues – We are excited to report that we are going to continue the marker recycling program started last year in conjunction with Crayola. It’s called CrayolaColorCycle – an amazing program devised to turn used markers into energy! Last year Creekside recycled 2,148 markers. Let’s see if we can beat that number this year!!
All around Creekside Elementary students and teachers will be collecting used markers (all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers, that includes dry erase markers and highlighters), that are ready to be discarded. The markers will then be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more!
Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house. Drop-off boxes will be located in each classroom for your child to deposit the markers. These boxes will remain in the classrooms throughout the year for continued marker recycling.
Thank you in advance for participating! With the help of parents like you across the country, the Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year.
The Conservation Caper and Energy Agents, in-school programs from Duke Energy, have a goal to save 10 million kilowatt-hours of energy during the 2016-17 school year. To reach this goal, families at participating schools can request a FREE Energy Kit to save energy in their homes. Every unique request for the FREE Energy Kit helps your school win cash rewards ranging from $250-$2,500, and gives each family a chance to win $1,000.
Creekside Families and Staff can request FREE Energy Kits and credit for Creekside Elementary through the “My Energy Kit Challenge” by going online toMyEnergyKit.org or by calling the hotline at (855) 386 – 9548
